At Compassion on the Coast, we know God has given us so much.
Our culture is to be joyfully generous with our time, talents, and resources. We don’t have to give. We get to.
We give as freely as we have received. (Matthew 10:8)
Abram doesn’t give with the intent to invoke God's blessing; he does so to express gratitude for God’s blessing. (Genesis 14: 19-20)
The income and things we have are a gift from God. We show our gratitude by joyfully returning a portion of His gift to Him.
Malachi talks about giving 10% of our income back to God- a Tithe. This portion is called “holy.”
We shouldn’t ask, “How much is required”? At Compassion, we ask, “How much can I give?”
We give back to God voluntarily to support the growth and health of our church.
We are the “Investors of God’s money,” giving back.
God owns. We steward.
We embrace a heart and lifestyle of generosity. At Compassion, we are breaking the curse of the love of money, adjusting our lifestyles and priorities, investing, and giving back to the Kingdom of God. Some people may start at 1% and work their way from there. Since God wants our entire heart, we are free to invest more than 10% of our gross income.
This approach funds our passion to go after
The Least. The Last. The Lost.
